Description
With a nearly columnar form, October Magic Rose Camellia lends itself well to narrow situations or smaller garden spaces and for this reason is fast becoming a staple for homeowners and professional landscape designers alike. Bright, truly double, salmon-rose flowers against the glossy, dark green foliage are simply stunning.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing only 6 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide with an upright and columnar form, October Magic Rose Camellia is perfect for smaller garden spaces or those spots that call for a narrower plant. It is ideal for use as an accent or espalier (grown flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings, as a hedge or background plant, or in groupings in landscape and woodland borders. A fine addition to camellia gardens, pink theme gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors for winter by those who live and garden above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing: 3 feet apart for solid hedge; 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types. They prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellias grow and bloom their best in partial shade, with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine. Late evening sun is fine.

This was my very first order from Wilson Bros. Delivery was fast. The camellia arrived well packaged and it had packing materials to hold in the soil. Despite the weather being in the mid 90s upon delivery, the plant was very healthy looking. The leaves were green and the roots looked good. Once I planted it, it did very well and it’s like it never skipped a beat from nursery to my garden. It’s been a few weeks and it’s still thriving. I can’t wait to see it bloom. I’ve placed other plant orders since and will continue throughout the seasons. The quality is just amazing and I am very happy.——————————————Yay! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

I had tried to get this camellia from one of our local nurseries, but they did not come through. When I saw that Wilson Bros Gardens had the October Rose, I decided to order some. I really have enjoyed ordering from Wilson Bros Gardens. The plants came promptly at a good planting time, and, best of all, the plants were beautiful. I will definitely be ordering again.
Thank you for your prompt service and careful packing, Plants arrived in great shape. It’s now on my patio in a misty south Georgia rain. I plan to get it in the ground tomorrow under an Oak in my front yard .
